FreeMED 0.8.4 Released with REMITT 0.3.3

FreeMED version 0.8.4 and REMITT version 0.3.3 have been formally released on Tuesday, May 22, 2007. They include support for CMS's mandated NPI standard, as well as many other improvements and community contributed bugfixes and features. FreeMED is an GPL-licensed opensource EMR/PM suite which is browser-based, and is developed by the FreeMED Software Foundation, Inc, a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation.

Version 0.8.4 is available on the download page of www.freemedsoftware.org, and REMITT is available from www.remitt.org. All users of 0.8.3 should upgrade to this release.

    Notable changes include:
  • NPI support (used with newer version of REMITT)
  • Initial superbill support.
  • Enhanced billing logic and better billing behavior.
  • Added DHTML viewer for Djvu documents.
  • Added additional community documentation from www.freemed.info
  • Many bugfixes and incremental module improvements.

Well done, Jeff! If anybody needs it, I have updated to 0.8.4 a module by Robert Meyer which allows you to add multiple CPT codes in the same procedure. I'm also working on a "SOAP notes" module. It's a different UI on progress notes, which will allow you to see all the past progress notes, and since they're mostly the same from visit to visit, will pre-populate the 'Add' page with the previous visit's notes.
